Taney County Ambulance District Appoints Executive Director

Darryl Coontz a veteran of emergency medical service

The Taney County Ambulance District (TCAD) board of directors this week named Coontz, a 30‐year veteran of emergency medical services (EMS), to the post. Coontz comes to Taney County after serving as the Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer for Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust (MAST) in Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas City, Missouri Fire Department recently took over all EMS responsibilities, so after 30 years of service, MAST will be dissolved.

Coontz praised TCAD’s loyal emergency staff and management team for maintaining a high level of service while the search for an executive director was being decided.

“The Taney County Ambulance District response and management team is committed to providing world‐class emergency medical services with the highest quality customer service, which is why I want to be a part of the team,” said Coontz.

Coontz, who became a paramedic in 1984 and holds a Master of Business degree, has a wealth of experience, both working in the field and in management. He also notes that he is extremely proud and excited to be a part of the TCAD’s future.

The board of directors for Taney County Ambulance had hired the firm of B.E. Smith to conduct a nationwide search to provide a list of top‐notch applicants to be considered for the position of executive director for the ambulance district.

“We firmly believe we have hired an executive director who will serve the people of Taney County well. Darryl Coontz has a long and successful tenure in this field,” stated Dale Sanders, TCAD Board Treasurer.
